What is Homoeopathy

Homoeopathy is an alternative system of medicine founded by Dr. Christian Friedrich Samuel Hahnemann at the end of the 18th century (1796) in Germany.

Homoeopathy system is based on similia similibus curantur (likes are cured by likes) which means the substance has the capacity to produce symptoms in a healthy human body is able to cure the same in sick.

Homeopathic medicines are derived from substances extracted from plants, minerals, or animals, such as red onion, arnica (mountain herb), white arsenic and stinging nettle. Homeopathic medicines are prepared by repeatedly diluting a chosen substance in alcohol or distilled water. Highly diluted Homeopathic substances contain a residual of the substance in remedies. The body recognizes that residual substance and reacts to it based on “law of minimum dose” the notion that the lower the dose of the medication, the greater its effectiveness. The minimal doses of specially prepared remedies to set the body’s systems back in order and stimulate a person’s own energies toward a natural healing process.

Homeopathic medicines are available as sugar pellets to be placed under the tongue and they may also be in other forms such as ointments, gels, drops, creams, and tablets. Homoeopathy medicines are considered to be safe, effective and regains equilibrium of human body with no side effects.

Homoeopathic treatments are “individualized” or tailored to each person.  For example, if two patient with same type of illness will receive different Homoeopathic remedies. Because Homoeopathic system believes that illness is specific to that individual. Homoeopathic remedies are decided by case-taking of patient. While case-taking, Homoeopath will question patient about their history of illness, food habits and personal characteristics to find out totality of symptoms. Homoeopath will examine patients Physical, mental, and emotional state. It will make easier for homoeopath to prescribe correct Homoeopathic remedies.

Homeopathic practitioners rely on two types of reference in prescribing medicines. They are Homeopathic Materia Medicae  and repertory. The Homeopathic Materia Medicae comprises alphabetical indexes of Drug Pictures organized by remedy and describes the symptom patterns associated with individual remedies. The Homeopathic repertory consists of an index of sickness symptoms, listing all remedies associated with specific symptoms.

Homeopathic remedies and homeopathic treatment are effectively used for treating skin allergies, acute, Head ache,Depression, Nasal polyp, common cold.
